How we met, how we fell in love and how we became a family is the closest to a real life fairy tale anyone can get!
Bachelor Party & the Rio Vista River is really all that anybody needs to know.
-Told in Jess’ POV-
As many, if not everyone, that is close to me knows that I lost a very dear friend to a horrible motorcycle accident. Trying to forget our sorrows, a close friend (Jordan Benner 🙂 ) & I decided to spontaneously float the Rio Vista River. It was seriously a last minute decision that almost didn’t happen because Jordan HAD to get her BMW washed…that only took about an hour.
Cale was down in Texas for Mr. Andy Steiner’s bachelor party! And for some strange reason they ended up in good ol’ San Marcos to float and day drink.
Jordan & I were needing to know the time and I spotted a man with a watch. So we called him over and wagered a beer for the time…little did we know calling him over meant calling over 6+ guys, and Cale was one of them.
How we fell in love…
After my first trip to Seattle, and going on all the romantic dates that he set up, I knew I was in, all in. A few weeks after I left, Cale asked me to meet his family in Arizona for New Years…. WHOA! Not only did he want me to come but also wanted Jazmyne to come as well! This was when he first told me he loved me… swoon! It wasn’t too long after that that we decided we could no longer be away from each other and that Jaz and I needed to move to Seattle.
How we became a family
Jaz and I moved to Seattle on March 17, 2013. Moving was the best decision I have made for myself and my baby girl. We found love, we found nurture, we found Cale. Cale and Jazmyne’s relationship continues to grow more and more each and every day.Their bond is so beautiful and I am so grateful. It’s been a rough road for them to get where they are and other circumstances will always try to hinder that but no matter what, it will always be special. We have the family we’ve always wanted and I can’t wait for it to grow… 😉
How he PROPOSED!
One of the first places Cale took me to when I first visited Seattle was the Waterfront Ferris Wheel in downtown Seattle. We didn’t have our own cart, we actually shared it with this really cute older couple, but it was still gorgeous! We shared a few kisses, being respectful of the elderly of course 😉 but that’s when I knew this guy was THE guy. Fast forward to Mother’s day this year. We weren’t too sure how the weather was going to play out…it’s Seattle. So when we woke up I said that it was going to be a nice day and we should take Jaz to the Ferris wheel since she has never been after our brunch reservation. He nonchalantly said “okay”. So after brunch we went downtown and headed towards the Ferris Wheel, We were able to snag our own cart with just him, myself and Jaz…woohoo! On the way up to the top we were showing Jaz the city, trying to find the Space Needle, seeing if we could find some ferries and taking in the beauty of the PNW. At the very very top Cale said, “Jaz, did you know that I took your Mom here the very first time she came to Seattle? It was a very special moment. That’s why I think this is the perfect time to ask” I was looking out the window towards the city but when I turned around, he was down on one knee and said, “Jessica Maria Gabriela Vasquez, Will you marry me?” that’s not really my middle name… anywho I started crying and Jaz was just like… errr what’s going on. hehe
I’ll never forget what a wonderful day that was!
