baby a : 4 months

4 months!!!

This month flew by for us, I think mostly because I knew I was going back to work right after he turned 4 months.

This last month his personality has really shown through. He’s still pretty chill but when he gets excited, boy does he! That big gummy smile that I’ve been yearning for has also made its appearance and I DIE each and every time! With gummy smiles also came GIGGLES!!! They’re still breathy giggles but giggles nonetheless!

His head control is getting better and better with each day. He HATES tummy time, which means he’ll be a little late on the rolling front but that’s okay. The doctor said if anything he’ll roll from back to front first instead of the typical front to back. Since tummy time is a no go we keep him sitting up for most of the day which has contributed greatly to his head control. He sits in his bouncer and Bumbo really well!

Sleep…ohhhhh sleep. We hit a wall with his sleep and it’s been…fun. My big boy grew out of his bassinet so we decided to move the pack-n-play into our room to give him some more room. And since then he was waking up MULTIPLE times in the night. Finally my common sense kicked in and I thought…hmmm maybe it’s uncomfortable…DUH!!! It’s basically a thin sheet of cardboard! Uhhh I felt so stupid because once we put his Dock-A-Tot in the pack play he slept the ENTIRE night. Gahhh. IDIOT! I would’ve woke up screaming every two hours too if I felt like I was sleeping on concrete. Poor baby. Sooooo we are back to the good sleeps again! Woohoooo!!

Sister came back from Texas, after being gone since the end of June and this little dude is obsessed with her and her him! It’s so sweet to see them together. And since he can hold his head now she can pick him up on her own and carry him around. And yes he is more than half of her! I seriously don’t know how I made such a huge kid! He’s a little man baby! But anyway, anytime he sees her he smiles soooo big! It’s adorable!

We start solids in the next few days and WE ARE SO EXCITED!! I’m planning on making all of his food so any tips, tricks or suggestions are more than welcome! I have the all in one steamer/mixer so it should be relatively easy….right? Eek!

This next month will be the toughest for me as I am returning back to work full time. Womp womp womp! I really thought that I would be itching to get back to work but I’m not. I’m really not. I’m going to miss my time with my handsome boy. We are lucky in that he’s not going straight into day care. Cale’s mom, Farmor {Swedish for Father’s Mother} is coming up from Arizona to watch him for us until the beginning of September. That makes me a little less anxious but I’ll still be a mess…let’s be real!

Happy 4 months, sweet boy.

a blooper from his shoot anytime Elle is near him, whether it be big Elle or little Elle, HE EATS IT!! all the things in the mouth!

Here are pictures that I never got a chance to upload, or I did and I just want to show them again because they are so darn CUTE!!!

fiesta de gingerbean

hey, y’all!
so a few weeks ago i had to make a little trip to good ‘ol tejas for a little business that i had to take care of. totally not for fun, strictly for business.
little did i know, my best friend and all of my closest friends were scheming behind my back to plan the most wonderful surprise baby shower!

i literally had no idea.
preslee did such an amazing job of keeping mum and so did everyone else! i really am surprised i didn’t pee my pants when they all jumped out and screamed surprise…or was it ‘OLE’….you see, i don’t even remember because i was so dang scared! haha

i cannot even begin to tell you how loved and special i felt. i have the most amazing group of friends. they always go above and beyond for me and i am forever grateful. my mama and sister made it too, which made it 100 times more special since i haven’t seen them since the wedding.

before i get to the photos i just want to give some shoutouts and kudos!
thank you for all the wonderful photos to the amazing misty mclendon photography!
and a HUGE thank you to posh print design for creating all of the awesome props, signs, cupcake toppers, and screen printing!
everything came out great!! i couldn’t have asked for a better fiesta!

and just a little tidbit on why it’s fiesta de gingerbean…my due date is may 5th… cinco de mayo, and my husband has the most red beard ever and well…i’m mexican.
so gingerbean!!

gingerbean13

so glad my tummy popped earlier than most (2nd pregnancy apparently does that to you) so that i could sport a little bump!
how fricken sweet is this?! we love our little ginger bean so much already!

gingerbean28 thankful for these amazing women that i have in my life. you guys always make me feel so special! we know our little man will be so loved!

i cannot thank my best-friend and all the wonderful people that helped her with this gorgeous surprise baby shower. i am so lucky.

**sidenote** so sorry i have been mia, ya’ll. this pregnancy has been kicking my ass. i am into my second trimester and still sicker than a dog. so blogging has been on the backburner as of late. i am hoping that i start feeling better soon and when/if that happens i will get back to our weekend shenanigans and some home updates. thank you guys for sticking with me through it all!

always,
-jess♥

wedding countdown

5 months

5 months!

hold the phone…it’s already been a month? what the hell!! our weeks have been so busy that time is just flying by!
wedding dreams are on full force. sometimes they’re good but it usually ends with me waking up pissed that my florist didn’t set up the altar right. i’m such a control freak all i know is that somebody better slip me some xanax to calm the eff down. {just kidding}

isn’t this little dish darlin’? we found them at homegoods! i’m obsessed with everything mr & mrs!

i have fully integrated our ‘mywedding.com’ wedding website with my blogsite. so if you go to my little tabbies at the top and hover over ‘a wedding’, a bunch of pages will pop up and you can browse them there! if you just click “a wedding” it’ll take you to the posts that i’ve tagged with ‘a wedding’.
was that confusing? i hope not!

previous wedding countdowns // {10 months}   {9 months}   {8 months}
{7 months}   {6 months}

this month we:

  • chose the wording for our invitations
  • 2 more bridesmaids went and got their dress. we have 3 outta 6! almost!
  • ordered cale’s suit and chose the suits for his groomsmen. we are not doing tuxedos. bleghhh too frumpy.
  • added some fun stuff from our videographer… it’s going to be so much fun!!
  • chose the rehearsal lunch venue.
  • changed the dinner from a buffet to a family style dinner. that way no one has to get up to get their food.

our vintage engagement party.

hello there!
so when i posted our engagement pictures i was asked {through multiple outlets} if i was going to have or had already had an engagement party and was i going to blog about it?
well, i didn’t have this blog when our engagement party was thrown so i hadn’t planned on it but it’s a popular question so i decided ah what the hell! why not!
so here we are.

when we got engaged in may, we decided right away that we needed to go down to texas and meet with all the vendors we could and start booking away. i also needed to find a dress and i wanted to do that with all {or most} of my bridesmaids so i knew i had to find it in austin. and we thought, “hey! lets throw a little shindig!” and that’s just what we did!

one of my bridesmaids, misty, graciously hosted it at her house and was the one who took care of all of the decor! oh my goodness did she knock it out of the park! we loved it! even though we were fighting through some awful weather it cleared up {kinda} and let us par-tay! the weather did not do good things to my hair though, but we won’t touch on that.

i am so grateful that all of our closest family & friends came out and celebrated our engagement with us. it seriously was a magical night.
thank you again, to all of my bridesmaids and maid of honor for helping me keep my stress down and making us feel special!

oooooos & aaaaaaahhhsss will soon follow.
welcome to our engagement party!
all photos except one {you’ll know when you see it haha} were taken by the incredibly talented misty sims photography. and all of the adorable furniture pieces are from furbish vintage rentals & inspiration.
