our weekend adventures

friday

IMG_3616
we got off early thursday afternoon and signed all he documents for the closing of our home! the one we were selling, not the one we are buying…that won’t be done until August 18th! we had to sign all the documents early so that we could completely move out on friday.

a HUGE thank you to our sweet friends, britt & ludwig, for sticking a roof over our heads during the little interim we have from closing on our old home and waiting for the new one to be done being built. and for letting us use their truck for all the misc. items we had. we are extremely grateful to have such generous and willing friends to help us during this insanely stressful time!
so…be prepared to see a lot more of them, ya know, since we will be living with them! hehe

saturday

 FullSizeRender 30
britt & i woke up kinda early and headed to seattle to start our girls day!
crepes & coffee to fuel us up!

FullSizeRender 23
i went and got the mane chopped…actually more like trimmed.
i always love the decor that’s in the salon. so fun!

FullSizeRender 20 FullSizeRender 27
then it was off to u-village! {britt had never been…waaattttt??}
my main focus was finding all of our flatware, barware and dinnerware at crate & barrel. and guess what, i did! here’s the silverware we picked out! super simple but would still present nicely on a place setting!
can you guys tell i am just having a ball getting to choose all new stuff??? i’m on cloud 9!

FullSizeRender 28
obligatory ann taylor stop.

FullSizeRender 24 FullSizeRender 31
double obligatory trophy cupcakes stop! every time we come to u-village they never have my favorite, chocolate peanut butter. but today was a GOOD DAY, because they did!! they also had these adorable pokeball cupcakes! gotta catch em all right??? even the carbs!

FullSizeRender 32
for lunchy munchy we popped in to chipotle and ate what could’ve been the spiciest pico ever.

FullSizeRender 33
after all the shopping shenanigans we headed home and rested for a good 30 minutes before having to leave to attend our friend’s one year anniversary of opening their bottleshop! we are so happy that they are doing so well! and what a turnout!

IMG_3577
grown up date night! even though jaz has been gone for a couple weeks now, we have been so busy with the house{s} that we haven’t had time to just enjoy ourselves, until tonight!

IMG_3610
after we closed out at brigids we went and walked the waterfront, not for the romantics…only to just catch pokemon. my phone died and strangers, that were also there to catch pokemon, let me charge my phone in their car! sketchy??? nehhhh they seemed like good people. turns out, they were, and my phone was happily charged and i got to catch more pokemon! however, we did stop to take advantage of this gorgeous sunset because, duh.

***side note. there are sooooo many people playing pokemon! everywhere we look everyone is on their phones. go ahead and call it stupid but at least this game is getting people off their asses and moving. granted, they are looking at their phones but still, exercise is exercise. and it’s hella fun!!

sunday

FullSizeRender 29
cale & i had to make our final trip to 2426 {house we sold} to pick up the few misc items left behind. it was so weird to lock up, pull out of the driveway and know that we will never pull back in. and we will never make that commute to work or see our neighbors everyday. cale said he wasn’t getting emotional but i sure was.

FullSizeRender 34
this is where we began. where jaz & i started our lives as new seattleites. where cale & i became mr and mrs anderson. just so many memories in the 6 years that cale lived in it and the short 3 years that i did. this was such a great first home and one we will never forget. we will miss a lot of things about this house, the proximity to all things shopping, our wonderful neighbors that are now our good friends, the brand new deck{!!!!! that we hardly got to use!!!!!} and so much more. although bittersweet, we are so excited for this new chapter in our lives.
cheers to moving forward onto bigger and better things!

FullSizeRender 26
speaking of which, we went and peaked in on the new house to see how things were coming along and they are a-comin! the front door was painted!!! you may be thinking…. uhhh, k. whoop-d-doo the front door was painted but to me THIS IS EXCITING! it means we are one step closer to being completely done!
we go on our final walk through on August 12th and then close on the 18th!!

t-minus 24 days until move in!

it was obviously a busy weekend but such a gorgeous one! summer is officially here in seattle and it is awesome! high 70’s to low 80’s and we are loving it!

what did you do this weekend??

always,
-jess

home projects: a new deck

i have been going on and on….and on about our new deck in all of our recent ‘weekend adventures’.
so it’s finally time to share some progress pictures with y’all!

why are we doing so many small renos to our home, you ask?
our hope/goal is to buy a bigger home at some point next year. and in order to do so, we want to be sure that our home that we have now is ready to go on the market whenever we find the perfect new home. a few things we knew we wanted to update was the deck, back-splash in the kitchen, possibly counter tops, hardwood floors and building a pantry.
but the deck was going to be the biggest project of them all. once we get all of these little things done, we will be ready to put our little home on the market. {!!!!!}

cale has been working so hard on it and it is coming together so perfectly!

here is what the old deck looked like,

our weekend adventures

friday

IMG_8053 it was national siblings day and here are all of mine! from oldest to youngest, veronica, monica, jackie, me!, kasandra & gabriel. veronica and monica are from my madre {yes, it’s veronica, monica & jessica. we’re the -ica sisters} and then jackie, kasandra and gabriel are from my padre. no full siblings for me, all halfsies.

IMG_8063 these papers are everywhere in my house. i swear it’s like jaz poops them or something! the life of a grade school mom….sigh.

IMG_8064 welllll… since i’m not counting every calorie anymore praying to fit into my wedding dress, i’m splurging a wee bit. five guys really hit the spot!
{after a few giggles, i debated on leaving that little excerpt in there…hehehe}

saturday

IMG_8071 for some reason i was really craving menudo.

IMG_8074 cale didn’t go into work so he got to cruise around with us during our normal saturday shenanigans! woohoo!

IMG_8077 the epitome of fatherhood to a 6 year old girl. you’d be surprised at how long he actually leaves them on there.

IMG_8080 look who finally got his ring back, sized correctly and brushed! bring on the wedding!

IMG_8081 i love when we go to our jeweler because they just take my ring and make her super sparkly! she is so pretty when she’s all cleaned up!

IMG_8088 a violation warning from the hoa means it’s time to clean up the winter wreckage! i got to plant all my pretty annuals and it looks like my hydrangeas have some buds poking out! yippee!!

IMG_8092 this girl’s flights are all booked up to come to seattle in june for THE shania twain!!! hell yesssss!!

IMG_8095 did i mention i’m splurging a bit?

sunday

IMG_8097 crepes and hot cocoa before our movie.

IMG_8101 home…meh. it wasn’t as funny as i thought it was going to be. but jaz loved it so i guess that’s all that really matters haha

IMG_8102 moms…you feel me.

IMG_8103 meal prepping for the week. just waiting to add the chicken, avocados and eggs.

IMG_8105 finished the night with blogging and GAME OF THRONES! eeeeeeeeep! i am so excited it’s back!

obviously, our saturday was super busy! and our sunday kind of was too. i did relax a bit though, i’ve been sick since last thursday. safe to say, that cold is long gone…i think.

i hope everyone had a great weekend!

always,
-jess

welcome to our home. pt. 2

welcome to the second part of our home!
the majority of the upstairs.

you can find part 1 of “welcome to our home” {here}

master bedroom continued…

i forgot to share our dresser when i shared our master bedroom, so here it is.

IMG_5039 IMG_5040
IMG_5041

homegoods, y’all. i’m telling ya!

jazmyne’s princess room.

IMG_4990
i’m obsessed with this canvas. hobby lobby is the winner here.

IMG_4991 IMG_4995 IMG_4999
IMG_4994IMG_5003 IMG_5004
i know that these letter’s don’t really go with her color scheme but they were a gift that neither one of us can part with. jaz loves them!

IMG_4998
what’s a princess room without a chandelier??

IMG_5006
now this is the most special thing in jaz’s bedroom. cale’s granny gave jaz this adorable rocking chair. it was actually cale’s & his siblings when they were younger, so it means a great deal to him.
and sitting on that adorable rocking chair is mr. monk {aka monkey}. jaz has had this stuffed animal since the day she was born. he’s quite tattered now as he took a little tumble in a burning candle, it’s okay we performed emergency surgery and got him a cast.
IMG_5008
and there you have it! a very…very, pink princess room.

the infamous man cave

now remember, this is the gathering room of all things that were hung up or “around” the house when i first moved in…

IMG_5009  IMG_5012  IMG_5011
IMG_5020

IMG_5036

the epitome of a man cave, right? i wasn’t allowed to touch this room…at all. i gave some placement pointers but he wanted every piece up on the wall. what’s he going to do if we have a baby before we move?

well folks, there’s our little home!
if we do any renovations or any type of home diys i will, of course, update y’all.
have you done a home tour before? if so comment with a ping back and i will be sure to check it out! i love seeing other blogger’s homes!

always,

welcome to our home. pt. 1

**i’ve been getting a lot of questions about where my comment button is and it’s ↑↑ actually on top of my posts in the right hand corner. it looks like a little thought bubble. super confusing, i know but i can’t change it. meh.**

happy sunday!
i know most of america is undergoing a horrible cold weather freakout, BUT seattle is stepping up it’s game and giving us so much sun! it hit 60° yesterday! it was awesome! sooo sorry for those of you that are neck deep in snow. yikes!

on to the post!
i know i promised this a lonnnng time ago and i honestly thought i would get to it sooner but we’ve been crazy busy y’all! i also didn’t know how i wanted to do it. either one huge post or maybe 2 or 3 little posts. i decided to do 2 parts.

here’s a little back story on our casa. technically, it belongs to cale & cale only. he had already had his house for 3 years before jaz and i moved up here. his own little bachelor pad! and that’s exactly what it was! cale is completely modern where as i am more traditional and like to make my house pretty with lots of decor. needless to say things changed when i moved in {sorry honey} i mean seriously y’all, he had his nintendo games framed and that’s what was on the walls in the living room. haha BACHELOR PAD!

the only thing we bought that he didn’t have {or that i didn’t like haha} was a living room set {coffee table, end tables and a buffet} we aren’t going to buy all new furniture until we move into a new house that we will be buying a couple years after the wedding. i can’t wait! it’ll be a clean slate for me to have fun with!

alright friends, welcome to our humble abode!

where all the magic happens… the kitchen.

1524591_10202260625988498_126818102_nthis is the before. do you see what i mean about modern stuff? yep, that’s a knife man, a buddha butter thing, gnome salt & pepper shakers and a rock statue pepper grinder. the wine glass holder wasn’t there when i moved in either but that was one of the first projects we did.

IMG_3054

and after.

 IMG_3049

i got everything {minus the wine glasses & wine} pictured here from homegoods. that place is my jam!

IMG_4151

we usually don’t have that many flowers up there but it was valentine’s day when i snapped these. there is however, always a fresh bouquet up there.

IMG_4157

we don’t have a dining room, we have a very small house. but we do have an extended bar that we put three stools under and that serves as our dining room.
i am not an open floor plan kind of girl. and this is an open floor plan house. so i had to separate the kitchen and the living room somehow and these were the perfect way to do that! before, we just hand some simple pendants that were very small.

where i spend my sundays… the laundry room.

1235167_10201453435489240_1042810871_n

sorry for the awful grainy picture, this is a cropped pic-stitch of an instagram picture. eep! so bare right? also, who the hell puts up those top shelves? unless you’re an amazon woman there is no way any woman is reaching up there. i once put my foot through the hood of the kitty’s littler box because i was climbing on top of the washer & dryer to reach my detergent. not cool.

IMG_2717

IMG_2719

thanks to good ol pinterest, i came up with this! my man is such a handy man and i love it!

on to the master

IMG_3055 IMG_3057

nothing special but it’s ridiculously comfy. going to sleep is by far my favorite thing to do.

in part 2 i’ll share the living room, jazmyne’s room, and cale’s man-cave.
hope y’all enjoyed a little look into our seattle suburb home.
i love house tours so let me know if you’ve posted home tours before! i would love to hop on over to your blog and check them out!

 always,
-jess
