oh dori.

i told ya a few of my upcoming posts were wedding related!
you were warned! haha!

so back in one of my countdown posts, i explained what exactly “bridals” were. if you missed it…i’ll explain it again.

taking bridal portraits is a southern thing.
i’ve come to know this by the confused, head tilt i got when i would tell my co-workers and friends here in seattle that i was going to texas to do my bridal portraits.
gah…us texan woman sure like to wear our wedding dress over and over…and over and over! that b was expensive! of course i want to to wear her all the time!

so you snag a photographer, you book hair & makeup and inform your florist that you will need a bouquet similar to the one you will have on your wedding day.
then you get all done up, like you will on your wedding day, slip into your dress and take a huge amount of portrait style photos.
these photos are typically shown at the wedding. the bride usually has a table that is dedicated to just her…a bride in the south gets all the glory…sorry groom.

so that’s what i did! and it got me even that much MORE excited to marry my honey.

hold the phone…let’s talk about my dress.
YAAAASSSSSS!
she was the last dress that we pulled and when i tried her on she was a purplish color {alabaster, according to the designer} luckily she also made it in ivory!
i knew…i knew as soon as i put her on that she was the one. i cried, my mom cried, my bridesmaids cried, even the girl helping me into the dresses cried! it was such a special moment, especially between my mom and i.
dori is her name.
