we are more than thrilled to announce
austin david anderson
born 4/12/2017 @ 3:25 pm
6 pounds 15 ounces
19 inches long

austin’s birth story :

this is a very long post. you are warned.

4/27 was our due date but circumstances prevailed and A came 2 weeks early! as so many of you know…i was miserable this entire pregnancy. his little testosterone body wreaked complete havoc on my body. as soon as i turned 37 weeks, full term according to most doctors, i was praying he would decide to come ASAP!
be careful what you wish for…
on monday, 4/10, i woke up with an incredible headache. not a migraine, just a really weird headache. not normal for me. not only did i have a headache, i was also very swollen, my feet, my hands, my nose, i just looked and felt more puffy than usual. i just shrugged it off and took two tylenol so that i could get through work without wanting to kill somebody.
when i got to work something told me to check my blood pressure. i hadn’t really been worried about preeclampsia since i didn’t have it with jaz but it was in the back of my mind. one of my coworkers had a blood pressure cuff that she said i was welcome to use at any time so i took her up on the offer, after checking it twice the diastolic number (bottom number) was high, i called my doctor justttt to be sure. she said come to triage, we need to monitor you, baby and see if there is any protein in your urine. well…crap. i called cale and he met me at the hospital.
after being in triage for 3+ hours and finding a small trace of protein in my urine, i was sent home with 2 ginormous jugs, a pee hat and orders for a 24 hour urine sample…so.much.fun….so that’s exactly what i did for the next 24 hours…all the while, still swelling and contracting. i had been having steady contractions that i knew weren’t braxton hicks but they were never consistent so i paid no mind to them.
4/11-i had to call in to work on tuesday. i’m sure my co-workers would not appreciate there being 2 jugs of pee in the fridge so i decided to spare them. around 3 was when my 24 hours was up and i headed back to triage for them to test my sample and to monitor both me and A. the good ol hubby met me there, and jaz was at school. at this point, the thought that we might get admitted and have a baby tonight was there but highly unlikely so we didn’t set anything up for what we would do with jaz…FAIL!
contractions were becoming much more frequent and consistent. probably about 20-30 minutes apart. again nothing too alarming but definitely showing signs of pre-labor. {yay!!} after 2 hours of being monitored {and becoming more and more famished} the doctor finally came in. for me to pass my protein test, my levels needed to be under 300, my result was over 430 {yikes} and because i was over 37 weeks and to avoid any major complications closer to 40 weeks, the doctor said, IT’S BABY TIME!
SHIT JUST GOT REAL, Y’ALL!

the induction would start with me taking misoprostol every 4 hours to soften my cervix, which was supposed to start at 7 pm on 4/11. my body had other plans though. i was contracting about every 7-10 minutes, meaning i was laboring on my own, which coincidentally happened with jaz too. i guess when my body hears induction, it kicks into gear and gets it done on it’s own, haha! so in order for them to give me the miso, they had to stop my contractions {don’t ask me why…it seems very odd to me to that in order for me to start contracting and go into labor with the miso, they had to stop natural contractions to induce fake ones…I DUNNO!} so i got hooked up to some fluids to space them out a bit. i got my first dose around 8!

hospital gown and pillowcase // baby be mine

for the rest of the night i contracted, not bad though. i was able to sleep through them so that should tell you the level of pain they were. every 4 hours i would get woken up to take another dose.

4/12- 7 am – i woke up to a gush. so being curious i reached down just to be sure and yupppp! that was my water! cale was still sleeping so i said “cale…calllleee, can you hand me the phone…my water just broke.” i think those words have been haunting him because i swear i’ve never seen him jump up so freaking fast! my nurse came in and confirmed that it was my water and checked it to be sure austin didn’t have a bowel movement. everything looked perfect…felt gross though. with jaz, the doctor had to break my water so i really wanted for it to happen naturally this go-round. and it did! my nurse {amy} was really surprised it did happen and i think that hit the nail on the head that yes i was being induced but my body had already started the process all on it’s own. but because of the preeclampsia they couldn’t just let me labor on my own because who knows how long that would actually take so, pitocin started at 11.

HELLLLOOO PAINFUL CONTRACTIONS!
every 2 minutes. with jaz, i only made it to three centimeters so i was hell bent on making it as long as i could without the epidural.

can we talk about my husband real quick?
we had talked about what he should do while i was laboring and all i asked was not to ask me if i was okay…because OBVIOUSLY! but you guys, i could not have asked for a better partner to labor with. i was legitimately concerned about snapping at him or getting annoyed with him {sorry honey} but he was amazing. he laid behind me and put pressure on my lower back through contractions. once they got stronger he sat in front me and let me squeeze him, basically head butt him, sometimes i lightly kicked him…WHAT A TROOPER! haha he was even keeping track of the machine to warn me when another contraction was about to rear it’s ugly head again so i could prepare. thank you for being amazing, honey.

5 cm – after two boosts of pain meds through my iv, it was time for the epidural. they were coming way too fast and way too hard. before the anesthesiologist came in i told my nurse, okay with my daughter i went from 3 to 10 within 2 hours… so just a heads up! after it was placed, amy told me to try and take a nap, i was going to need it to push.
30 minutes later – something was funny feeling, i felt lots of pressure and tingling, so i gave little amy a jingle. “uhmmmm, yeah i feel tingling…” she came in, checked me, her eyes got big and she said “oppp you’re ready” 30 minutes, y’all…i went from 5 to 10 in 30 minutes!! my epidural hadn’t even fully taken yet! i could still move my legs!

as amy is trying to track down my doctor, she looked over at me and could see the “oh shit, i’m pushing” face and she said, “you need to have your baby now, don’t you? don’t push don’t push!” of course this sent me overboard and i instantly started crying and saying, i can’t help it! all the while, cale had went potty, maybe in there 2 minutes, he went in with just amy in the room, came out with another nurse, and the nearest midwife {she was checking on a patient next door} suiting up. his literal words were, “OH SHIT THIS IS HAPPENING NOW”
as the midwife was getting her gown on, she was simultaneously telling me to push when i needed to, with one hand there just in case a baby plopped out.
AGAIN…EPIDURAL NOT FULLY IN EFFECT. I COULD FEEL EVERYTHING.
3 contractions later, the midwife asked me to reach down and pull my baby out, i got to pull austin out, y’all!

and our beautiful baby boy was born. cale & i instantly started crying and it will forever go down as one of the most beautiful and chaotic moments in our lives, it all happened so fast!

skin to skin with papa!

not even an hour later big sister jazmyne was there to meet her baby brother!

we stayed overnight and i could not put him down.

i’m a spoiled mama! my push gift from the hubby!

custom receiving blanket // etsy-gingerlous
and less than 24 hours after giving birth, we were able to go home! austin passed all of the necessary tests with flying colors and i was walking around, both patients were ready.to.go!

proud papa!

austin is now 2 weeks and 2 days! what a whirlwind it has been!
i still have his nursery reveal to post about and now his newborn session as well!
stay tuned!!!

always,
-the proudest mama bear ever, jess

our weekend adventures

friday

i am really the morale pusher at work and i love doing random stuff to make people happy so i brought donuts! and every time i bring something sweet and glutenous i always have to blame it on baby a.

i also have the most awesome friend who brought me BUGELS! bugels people!!!

saturday

before jaz and i set off for our weekend errands we enjoyed some homemade blueberry muffins!

one of our stops was petco and we always have to find the kittens up for adoption and give them some lovin! this guy was so sweet!

buffalo wild wings is my life. actually pickles, pickles are my life.

what other mama’s weekend looked similar? the weekend before valentines means getting lots and lots of valentines ready! jaz and i always kind of go all out.

this sweetness arrived! i can’t wait to put my little viking in it!

it was a beautiful weekend so we took advantage and got my big butt out and walking! there are some new houses going up down the street so cale and i engaged in some illegal activity and poked our heads in. we are suckers for new houses!

sunday

i got up before jaz and cale and hit the grocery store. note to self, do not go the grocery store whilst hungry and pregnant. don’t do it.

we got this baby up and decorated! this is in our entryway!

i’m telling you, it was a beautiful weekend, so i got lucy all cleaned and purdy!

jaz found my letterman from highschool. nowwww she believes me when i say i had the best jumps and i was a flier {cough..best stunt group…cough}

we headed to seattle in the evening to celebrate the pending arrival of baby girl steiner! this made my heart melt! she is going to be the best big sister ever!

babies babies babies!! we celebrated mama in the middle {hailey} who is due in like a week and misha is due a day after her! i can’t wait to meet all of the new littles!
{side note: i am not as huge as this picture is making me look! stripes are so cute and flattering in person but angles are tricky when you’re being photographed!}

we got so much done this weekend and i am so satisfied! it was mama’s to-do weekend since cale has been feverishly working on his cloffice for the past month. we got austin’s closet pretty much done, his shelf mounted above his changing table, his artwork hung above his crib and the rocking chair assembled! we also hung drapery in the formal living and moved things/cleaned the laundry room! it was a great weekend and so pretty! we hardly had to wear coats! also be “we” i totally mean cale. i supervised.

what did you guys do?

always,
-jess

our weekend adventures

friday

it was a mini game night! jaz and i played mancala before cale got home and then they played guess who!

what is with all of the static lately?! our couch is a shock magnet!

saturday

sooooo…i failed my 1 hour glucose test for gestational diabetes so i had to go in for the dreadful 3 hour screen. ugh it was awful! the drink was a million times sweeter and i had to just sit there for 3 stinkin’ hours! butttt…I DON’T HAVE THE DIABEETUS! woop woop!

after my test i headed to the mall to pick up a few things and because i had to fast for 12 hours before the glucose test i had a scary bout of hyperglycemia. in a matter of minutes i went from fine, to insanely shaky, sweaty (like my forehead was wet), dizzy and my vision blacked out. i freaked out and went straight to the food court and quickly ordered chipotle. after i ate the whole thing i was a okay again. scary stuff y’all.

i hadn’t gotten my test results back yet so i decided that i was going to indulge just in case i wouldn’t be able to for the rest of my pregnancy. mmmm milkshake!

 sunday

obsessed with our master would be an understatement. i cannot wait till we get this gigantic room painted!

superbowl sunday brought out the little chef that could! hehe my honey was so excited to try this pizza roll thing he saw on facebook! he’s such a cutie!

just a few yummies we made! galen & shannon also made some amazing wings! mmmmm i love football food!

just wouldn’t feel right if i weren’t representing our boys! we’ll get em next year!

after everyone left, jaz practiced her french braiding skills on my hair. she’s got it down!

and like every other night after we tuck jaz in, we sat on the couch while cale calmed austin down by talking to him and rubbing my belly ❤

it was kind of a busy weekend. most of my saturday was taken up by that damn glucose screen so i feel like i didn’t get much accomplished. but it was nice to hang out with galen, shannon and their precious girls! the game was a bummer though. i am not a falcons fan but i LOATHE the pariots (CHEATERS) so i really wanted atlanta to win. but i gotta hand it to new england. that was one helluva comeback!

what adventures did you go on!?

always,
-jess

our weekend adventures

friday

seeing me sitting wayyyyyy back in my chair at work is totally normal to my coworkers now. austin likes to hang out in my ribs as of late and holy hell is that super comfy…

i’m not usually a political person but this was pretty funny. and in honor of the inauguration, i thought i’d post it here.

saturday

jaz and i went out and had a little shopping fun. tell me how it’s possible that i scored a pair of cute maternity jeans from old navy for $1.47!!!! what in the what!!

i’ll touch more on this in my monthly update but my little testosterone son has been wreaking havoc on my skin! so i had to take it a notch up from just cetaphil. also, do you know how hard it is to find pregnancy friendly acne/facial anything that actually works!? goodness! but lucky for me all of these babies are safe and i can’t wait to see how they work!

panera stop after all the shopping madness!

lunch with this pretty girl! i’ve been trying to get in as many mommy-daughter dates as i can before her baby brother comes. it’s going to be so weird that she won’t be my only baby anymore. it’s just been about her for the past 8 years!

after we snagged cale for some dinner we all headed to target to return some god awful curtains that i chose for austin’s nursery (i ended returning the ones i got in exchange too, a total of 3 different trips for damn curtains y’all) anyway, we came across this really awesome airplane, nail stringy thing! we just had to have it!

sunday

normal sunday morning breakfast and my pancakes were coming out beautiful! i mean look at those golden cakes!

img_5183 img_5184
this little turd! i knew one of them was jumping in the crib but now we have proof. actually i now know that both of them are jumping in, i caught lulu a little later on.

cale steamed the floors and lulu took advantage of the bar stools being out. we have such a purdy kitty cat!

c-r-a-v-i-n-g
it may have been raining and below 40° but i still wanted shaved ice so so so bad!

we don’t know how many times we have to tell jazmyne to “PUT LULU DOWN” so cale decided to give her a taste of her own medicine.

almost 7 months, y’all! wooooo! i love my little basketball!

it was supposed to be a productive weekend buttttt i think it just kind of slipped through our fingers because we didn’t get much done around the house. which stinks because i will be in texas next weekend. oh well. i’ll get what i need done this week.

what did you guys get into this week?

always,
-jess

our weekend adventures

friday

my sciatica has been really acting up lately so i spent the majority of my day on my fun bouncy ball! this thing is so much fun!

i am trying to find a light fixture for austin’s room and did you know that the land of nod‘s online store has knock knock jokes on every item page?! i’m such a sucker for bad jokes so i was on this site for a while reading every one! how fun!

saturday

saturday morning i got to celebrate the pending arrival of baby lower #2! i am so excited to meet this little girl or boy! i think it’s another girl! ❤

the hawks had a late game against the lions so we decided on good ol’ pizza and wings! thank goodness they pulled off a win! and gooooodd lord all of richardson’s catches were insane! not to mention the butt catch by baldwin! hehehe

sunday

this guy can never seem to wake up in the morning with jaz & i. he’s like a little kid when i open the shades. ‘no mom, i don’t wanna!’ but you bet your butt as soon as he smells the pancakes, sausage and potatoes, he’s up!

every sunday morning i make a big breakfast and we all eat together without the tv and without our phones. it’s really hard to do this during the week since i leave the house before cale & jaz are even out of bed. so eating at least one breakfast together is really important to me.

after breakfast it was back to the grind. the holidays are over which means our schedule isn’t all cattywampus, which meannnnss sunday is back to our cleaning, grocery shopping and laundry day! i still have so much work to do in through the whole house so this isn’t finished being decorated but all of the christmas decor is down and it makes me so sad!

with jaz back and our schedules back to normal means we are back to dinners everynight, snacks and lunches for school, you know…the mom life! weekly grocery trips always hit hard…i can’t even imagine what it’ll be like with a family of 4 and when austin hit’s his teen years….OH MY GOD! now taking donations for the anderson food fund.

anyone else a huge fan of meyer’s cleaning supplies, basil scent in particular? because i can sit at a table and smell this all day!

our cat, ya’ll. she’s such a dork!

phew! it was such a busy weekend! we got so much done, and by “we”, i mostly mean cale. here’s a list of everything my hubby got done this weekend.
• finished the trim and all of the woodwork on his cl-office
• painted all the trim and shelves about a hundred times because he’s a perfectionist & didn’t like how it was laying down….
• took down all of our outside christmas lights/decor
• painted austin’s nursery… {!!!!!}
• came to my rescue every time i dropped something, seriously, bending over is literally the hardest thing to do these days.
• helped me rearrange the formal living room.
• changed the oil in his car
• and after all of that…STILL cuddled and rubbed my belly!
he’s a keeper you guys. i love my handy man!

what did you guys get into??

always,
-jess

our weekend adventures

friday

if you follow me on snapchat (@jaevas) then you got to follow along on my devious plan to steal my husband’s car so that he was stuck with my gas-less car… mwahahaha. it worked out perfectly!

snagging an outfit picture with the bump is proving to be quite difficult lately.

year end is already a stressful and crazy busy time for me but one thing that makes it 100 times more crazy is programs trying to spend their 2016 budget by the end of the year! they do that by purchasing a shit ton of incentives for youth, and guess who has to record each one and makes little receipts for them. oh yes, yours truly. lucky me!

cale has been off from work for the past week and has been working on his cloffice {closet office} and this has been the normal scenery in the guest room. i will do a post on all of cale’s projects soon! that includes :
• cloffice
• storage in the laundry room
• wainscoting in the entryway and dining room
• austin’s nursery {both of our projects}
and a couple other projects that are on our mind but not in the near future.
• restain the kitchen cabinets
• install lights under the cabinets
• deck
SO MANY PROJECTS! so grateful for my handyman!

saturday {new years eve}

i really, really wanted to watch the hobbit for some reason, so cale and i cuddled and watched it in front of the fire. yessssss.

time to get ready for our night out!!

el gaucho had such a pretty bathroom that of course i had to get a few selfies with the bump! i’ve looked at pictures from when i was pregnant with mina and i’m carrying a little different with austin. i’m smaller, and i still have a waist! i love my little basketball!

we had made reservations at the infamous el gaucho in seattle and it was delicious! unfortunately, this was the only photo we got with the both of us.
let me just say, new years without champagne just isn’t the same! admittedly, i had a sip of cale’s rum & coke {omg yas} and a teeny bite of his ahi tuna tartare. i about died. i miss it, i miss it so much!!

after dinner, we headed down to key arena to watch the trans-siberian orchestra! the key is right in front of the space needle which was lit up pink for the t-mobile new years fireworks show!

one of the coolest concerts i’ve been to! we somehow managed to get incredible floor seats which was a blessing and a curse. while the view was fantastic, the seats, ehhhh, not so much. this insanely full, refluxy, uncomfortable pregnant mama could not make it through the whole thing, especially on folding chairs with hardly any cushion. whomp whomp!

even though we left early, we made it out in time to beat the crazy new years traffic for the space needle. woohoo! but on our way home we hit the blizzard of washington! it was nuts!! people on the highway were literally going 30 mph because noone could see the damn lines! ugh so scary!

sunday

sunday morning we ate breakfast and changed into our game day attire! safe to say, i need a new jersey.

before the game we hustled to home depot to pick up some supplies for cale’s cloffice and i found some steals for christmas next year! woohoo!!

thankfully the hawks pulled off a win…barely. which is sad because it was the freaking 49ers! it has not been a pretty season but lets see if we can stay alive in the playoffs. fingers crossed!

our kittens smelled like dookie so both of their butts got baths. they were not amused.

after the cats got me soaked, i decided to take a candle light bath. i kinda stayed in it for an hour…. don’t worrrrryy, it wasn’t hot. sheesh.

monday

i had the day off {observed new years day!}

i wanted to wear something comfy to go shopping in and usually it’s my lulu’s that i go to butttt i think this top is going to have to make it’s way back to the drawer and stay there until after the baby is born. lulu lemon needs to come out with a maternity line!

britt & i took advantage of our day off and had some shopping fun!

tempura fried pickles. hell yes!!

cale has been on a brownie kick lately and when jaz is gone, he can indulge in the bowl/spoon licking all by himself since i can’t partake {stupid eggs}.

phew! what a weekend! i honestly thought we would get austin’s nursery painted butttt we only got one wall done. we hate painting! i mean, who likes painting?! please come to my house if you do.
other than that, it was a great weekend with the hubby. we always like to do it up for new years since we never have jaz but this will be our last year without a kiddo. while we may not have jazmyne, we will always have austin now. so bizarre to think about!
i am so ready for 2017. 2016 has been wonderful to us but i have a feeling 2017 is going to be amazing!

what did you guys of for new years?!

always,
-jess

our weekend adventures

friday

it was literally me and about 5 other people in the whole building on friday. but that didn’t stop me from rocking my ugly christmas sweater and xmas tree earrings!

and while i was at work it snowed… a lot! it was so exciting to actually have a white christmas!

cale & i decided to do a date night because we never have those and went to cinnebarre and watched passengers. it was okay, not great. which is a bummer because i really love jennifer lawrence & chris pratt.

saturday

i woke up to this creep just staring at me…’mahm, why aren’t you up yet?’
and yes, i need two water bottles to keep me hydrated throughout the night.

gosh, i just love waking up to nothing but white on the ground! it’s so stinkin’ pretty!

we headed over to my brother-in-laws house for christmas eve dinner and i got to be santie claus! poor austin, he was so squished!
**i’m also really bummed i didn’t get a photo of the table setting, it was gorgeous!**

img_4892
merry christmas from the andersons! we miss our jazmina but we are so excited that we will have both of our babies next year!

their neighbors really went all out on the christmas lights. goodness gracious!

sunday

we had cale’s, mom, dad & sister over for christmas breakfast and i forgot to snag some pictures. but it happened i swear! 😉

after some relaxation and making buster brownie cake, we headed back over to my brother-in-laws for xmas dinner! it was originally supposed to be at our house, but my father-in-law is crazy allergic to long hair cats soooo after the first evening of wheezing we decided, yep, that’s a no-go.
**anyway**
if you follow me on instagram (@jess_g_anderson) then you already know how obsessed i am with what pregnancy is doing to my body. mostly because i’m not gaining any weight {austin is fine, no worries} but especially in black…you can’t even tell i’m pregnant from the front or the back. WOOHOO! yay for basketball bellies!

holy fogness. christmas evening was a bit of an eerie ride.

monday

monday morning {the observed holiday for us working folk} we slept in and it felt so good! i had a mission to go to home depot and get the paint we chose for the nursery and start on that buttttt…cinnamon rolls, milk, a big comfy couch, the fireplace and snuggles sounded so much better! so that’s what we did until about two.

because i felt bad for not cooking on sunday, which i was originally supposed to do, we offered to go grab some delfino’s pizza and bring it back to aaron & kelsey’s house for jo & dave’s last night in seattle. of course i had to stop in at pottery barn kids to take a peek and low & behold, valentine’s stuff!

olen’s dad and fun uncle cale made sure to give us women mini heart attacks.
{sorry for the obnoxiously huge thumbnail}

all in all it was a wonderful weekend, albeit, EXHAUSTING!
i hope you had the best time with your family. now cheers to the new year! we have some exciting plans for new years eve so stay tuned!

always,
-jess
